Description
Isaac Webb Johnson was born in Cumberland County, N.J., and is the son of Isaac Johnson and Rachel Dubois. By 1853, he had moved to Minnesota and was one of the first farmers settling in Canisteo township. Isaac enlisted in the Minnesota 3rd light Artillery at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, and mustered out on Feb 28, 1865. His service during the Civil War consisted of actions against hostile Indians in Dakota and Minnesota. His unit did not come in conflict with Confederate troops. After the war, Isaac worked in a machine yard. He died on March 18, 1906, in Neosho Falls, Kansas.

He colorized most of the historic photos and images used on the mugs, which were originally black and white or sepia-tone. The images and biographies are imprinted on mugs at his studio in rural Vermont.
