Description
Henry Samson was from Bedford, England. He was about 16 when he came on the Mayflower with his uncle and aunt, Edward and Ann Tilley. He married Ann Plummer in 1635 in Plymouth and became a freeman about that time. Henry volunteered to serve in the Pequot War of 1637. He became a constable and tax collector and was on a large number of juries. He was appointed as a surveyor in several instances. His wife, Ann, died sometime between 1668 and 1684.
The Mayflower
The Mayflower left England in September 1620 with 102 men, women and children bound for Virginia. After 65 days they arrived far north of their preferred destination. They created a government on arrival forming the Mayflower Compact, which stated the colonists would create “laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, and offices…,” follow their Christian faith, work together for the common good, and be loyal subjects to King James.

The biographical History Mugs were created to teach and inspire individuals to learn about our diverse and interesting history. The biographies were researched and written by history enthusiast, Robert Compton. He colorized most of the historic photos and images used on the mugs, which were originally black and white or sepia tone. The images and biographies are imprinted on mugs at his studio in rural Vermont.
