Will Rogers was born into a Cherokee family in the Indian Territory and became “Oklahoma’s Favorite Son.” Will was a cowboy, entertainer, columnist, and humorist. His popularity for political wit made him one of the highest-paid Hollywood film stars. Will traveled around the world, made 71 films, and wrote over 4000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns. His success started during his vaudeville rope act in NYC. His folksy style allowed him to poke fun at politicians, government programs, and gangsters without offending anyone. Will’s aphorisms were wildly quoted. His death in a plane crash in northern Alaska was mourned by people all around the world.
Will Rogers quotes:
“I never met a man I didn’t like.”
“Advertising is the art of convincing people to spend money they don’t have for something they don’t need.”
