Description
George H. W. Bush was the last president to have served in the military during the Second World War. He was vice president under Ronald Reagan. Previously George H. W. Bush had been a congressman, ambassador and director of the CIA. He made a fortune in the oil business, becoming a millionaire by age 40. As president, foreign affairs dominated his administration. Military operations were conducted in Panama and the Persian Gulf. The Soviet Union dissolved two years into his presidency. Domestically, Bush reneged on his 1988 campaign promise of “No New Taxes.” In the wake of an economic recession and budget deficits, he lost his bid for reelection to William J. ‟Bill” Clinton.
This U.S. Vice President George H. W. Bush History Mug is part of our U.S. Vice Presidents Series which includes all of the US Vice Presidents.
The biographical History Mugs were created to teach and inspire individuals to learn about our diverse and interesting history. The biographies were researched and written by history enthusiast, Robert Compton. He colorized most of the historic photos and images used on the mugs, which were originally black and white or sepia-tone. The images and biographies are imprinted on mugs at his studio in rural Vermont.
